The Best Unique and Addictive Book Series You Need to Read

There are good books… and then there are the ones that completely take over your life for a while.

The kind where you tell yourself “just one more chapter”… and suddenly it’s 2 a.m., your house is quiet, and you’re emotionally attached to fictional characters like they’re real people.

That was me with the Boys of Tommen series—starting with Binding 13—and somehow, I ended up finishing all six books in about a month.

And honestly? I still haven’t recovered.

All of these books are available on Kindle Unlimited, so you can read them without buying each one. If you’re not sure about the monthly subscription, you can try it free for 30 days here →  Try Kindle Unlimited Free

A Series That Pulls You Into Real Life

What makes this series so different isn’t just the romance—it’s how deeply human it feels.

Each book doesn’t just tell a story… it pulls you into the characters’ lives in a way that feels almost intrusive (in the best way). You’re not just watching things happen—you’re feeling them.

  • When they’re hurting, you feel it
  • When they’re happy, you feel relief
  • When things fall apart, it genuinely sticks with you

It’s messy. It’s emotional. It’s real.

And that’s what made it impossible for me to put down.

Why I Loved ALL Six Books

I don’t say this lightly—I loved every single book in the series.

Usually with long series, there’s at least one that feels like filler… but not here.

Each story felt:

  • Unique
  • Deeply emotional
  • Focused on different struggles and perspectives
  • Connected, but still strong on its own

You get attached to one couple… and then somehow the next book pulls you in just as much (if not more).

It’s like you become part of this entire world—and leaving it feels weirdly hard.

The Book That Changed My Perspective Completely

Out of all six books, there’s one I genuinely have not stopped thinking about since I read it…

Taming 7.

Before reading it, I’ll be honest—I didn’t fully understand bipolar disorder. I think I had a very surface-level, almost stereotypical idea of what it looked like.

But this book completely changed that.

It doesn’t sugarcoat anything.

It walks you through:

  • The highs
  • The lows
  • The confusion
  • The emotional intensity
  • The impact it has on relationships and daily life

And it does it in such a raw, unfiltered way that you can’t help but feel it.

There were moments that were uncomfortable, heartbreaking, and honestly eye-opening.

It made me realize how complex and misunderstood bipolar disorder really is—and it gave me a completely different level of empathy and awareness.

And that’s rare for a book to do.

The Emotional Impact

This series isn’t a light, fluffy read.

It deals with heavy topics like:

  • Trauma
  • Mental health
  • Abuse
  • Family struggles
  • Identity and healing

But it handles them in a way that feels real, not forced or overly dramatized.

Nothing feels rushed. Nothing feels fake.

And because of that, the emotions hit harder.

These characters don’t just feel like characters… they feel like people you know.

Some books are good.

Some books are really good.

And then there are the ones that completely take over your life—the kind where you say “just one more chapter” and suddenly it’s 2 a.m., your house is quiet, and you’re emotionally attached to fictional characters like they’re real people.

That was me with the Boys of Tommen series, starting with Binding 13.

I finished all six books in about a month… and I still think about them.

So if you’re wondering whether this series is worth it—here’s my honest, spoiler-free breakdown of each book and why I couldn’t put them down.

Where it all begins

This book introduces you to Shannon and Johnny—and from the very beginning, you can feel that this isn’t going to be your typical romance.

What it’s about (spoiler-free):
A quiet, guarded girl trying to survive her circumstances meets someone who slowly becomes a safe place for her.

What I loved:

  • The emotional depth right from the start
  • How slowly and naturally the relationship builds
  • The way it handles heavy topics without rushing them

This book pulled me in immediately. It felt real, not overly romanticized—and that’s what made it so powerful.

  • The intensity of the emotions
  • The growth in both characters
  • How invested I felt in their lives

This one made me feel everything—stress, heartbreak, hope… all of it.

A new story, same emotional depth

This is where the series shifts focus—and somehow still keeps you completely hooked.

What it’s about:
A deeper look into a different character’s life, struggles, and relationships.

What I loved:

  • How unique this storyline felt compared to the first two
  • The rawness of the character’s situation
  • The way it expanded the world of the series

At this point, I realized this series wasn’t just about one couple—it was about real people with real struggles.

Redeeming 6

Healing isn’t linear

This one continues the story from Saving 6, and it does not hold back emotionally.

What it’s about:
Growth, consequences, and what it actually looks like to try to change and heal.

What I loved:

  • The honesty in the character development
  • The fact that things weren’t magically “fixed” overnight
  • The emotional weight of every decision

It felt messy, real, and deeply human—which made it hit even harder.

The one I cannot stop thinking about

This is the book that genuinely changed something in me.

What it’s about:
A relationship that unfolds while navigating serious mental health challenges—specifically bipolar disorder.

What I loved:

  • How raw and unfiltered it was
  • The deep dive into what bipolar disorder can actually look like
  • How it showed both the beauty and the struggle

Before reading this, I didn’t fully understand bipolar disorder beyond surface-level ideas.

But this book walks you through the highs, the lows, the confusion, the intensity—it doesn’t sugarcoat anything.

It completely changed my perspective and gave me so much more empathy and understanding.

And honestly? I haven’t stopped thinking about it since.

Releasing 10

Letting go, growing up, and moving forward

This book brings a fresh perspective while still staying connected to the heart of the series.

What it’s about (spoiler-free):
It follows a new dynamic and relationship while exploring themes of identity, pressure, and what it means to figure out who you are—especially when life doesn’t go the way you expected.

What I loved:

  • How different it felt from the earlier books, but still emotionally strong
  • The character growth and maturity
  • The way it explored real-life pressures and expectations

It added another layer to the series and made the whole world feel even more complete.

Final Thoughts

Even though I read this series in a month… it’s stayed with me way longer than that.

And to me, that says everything.

Because the best books aren’t just the ones you enjoy while reading them—they’re the ones you carry with you after.

If you’re looking for something:

  • Emotional
  • Addictive
  • Deeply character-driven
  • And impossible to put down

This series is 100% worth it.
